About the photographs:
In 2006 August, Forum for the Empowerment of Women (FEW) held for the first time after the millenium, lesbian conference in Johannesburg, South Africa. The aim was to give a socio-political space for black lesbians to express their daily lived experiences with others and also to dialogue and seek for solutions to those problems. At the end of conferencing, the participants and supporters marched to the streets of Johannesburg, a march that started at the old Women's Jail to Constitution(al) Court, Hillbrew.
